FAQ about the Practice Programs

1. What dates and times are the Spring and Fall Practice Programs?

The Spring Practice program is every weekend from Jan. 26 to May 31. The Fall Practice program is every weekend from Aug. 22 to Nov. 17. During Daylight Savings both programs will have additional practices as follows:
  • Thursday - RWB Only from 3:30 p.m. to dark
  • Friday – RWB & Green Only from 3:30 p.m. to dark
  • Saturday – All Levels of Opti from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sunday – Laser/420 & Green Only from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Remember to refer to the Team Up Calendar for detailed practice times, the calendar is kept updated year round.

2. Do I need to bring a lunch?

If you wish to order from our kitchen there will be a lunch form available every morning, otherwise you can bring your own lunch. Lunch will be charged to your Member Number or the credit card on your file.

3. What If I cannot make every practice?

The key to improvement is time on the water but we understand that other obligations may come up, therefore, missing a practice every now and then is fine. Just remember to RSVP through the Team Up Calendar App when you will be at practice.

4. Do I need my own boat?

For mini and orange sailors we have 10 club optis available that we use for practice. These optis are also available for green sailors but we strongly encourage every sailor to have their own boat. Boat ownership builds a sense of ownership and commitment that goes farther than just sailing.

5. What does a normal practice day consist of?

Upon arrival there will be a white board outside the Ragnot room with a message on where to meet. We normally meet on the lawn and start rigging the boats. Once everyone is rigged we move on to a team workout. After the workout we split into groups (mini/Orange, Green and RWB, Laser, 420) and sit down for a chalk talk to cover the plan for the morning. The remainder of the day is morning sailing, lunch and afternoon sailing. Most days there is time for a quick pool cool off after lunch.

6. What do I need to bring?

  • Water Bottle
  • Water Shoes
  • Life Jacket
  • Sun protection clothing
  • Dry pair of clothes
  • Snack
  • Lunch if not ordering from the club
