HYC Fishing

Houston Yacht Club has many members who are active anglers with a passion for all kinds of fishing. They love the thrill and challenge of the “next big catch.” You will find other like minded fishermen and fisherwomen eager to trade tips on fishing equipment and technique, and of course tell the tale of ”the one that got away.”

Galveston Bay is known for its abundance of game fish, including speckled trout, red fish and flounder among many other species, not to mention the big game fish further out in the Gulf. With its location on the Upper Bay, HYC is an ideal spot to launch your next fishing adventure.

Whether your boat is a sport fisherman, center console or kayak, HYC has a variety of slips and trailer storge spots waiting for you. Or, if you prefer, bring your boat down for the day or weekend and launch it from one of the club’s 2 boat ramps. There will always be a friendly dock master around to help out with fuel, ice or loading in and out.

in addition to sailing, the Youth Program includes a fishing class that teaches about fishing in Galveston Bay. It is taught by senior HYC members who are expert fishermen.

The class covers fish types, equipment and techniques.

HYC Anglers is the name of a membership chat group that is used for communication between members interested in dropping a line in the water. No boat, no problem. This group is founded by long time Galveston Bay anglers who coordinate outings, seminars, and tournaments.
