The Harbor and the protected waters north and south of the breakwaters, with their beaches and picnic areas, are great places to hone your skills, explore and fish. You can enjoy the convenience of storing your kayak at the club or renting one of the club’s boats. Whatever your preference, come enjoy this growing activity at HYC.
The number of kayak owners is growing at HYC as members discover that this easy and affordable activity adds an extra dimension to their Galveston Bay experience. Kayaks can be easily transported to the club, can be easily launched off the dinghy dock and fit neatly on the bow or stern of larger sail and power boats. The HYC harbor and the cove just north of the Club (also known as Wussy Bay) provide protected cruising grounds and picnic areas. In good weather, more adventurous paddlers can quickly reach the open waters of Galveston Bay.
