Types Of Membership
Which Membership Fits You
The Houston Yacht Club offers a variety of membership categories with differing initiation fees and different levels of monthly dues.
Senior Membership (all ages eligible)
Senior member benefits include priority boat slips and harbor storage, club programs and clubhouse amenities. HYC is a member-oriented, private yacht club. Only Senior Members have voting privileges in Club affairs and may serve as Officers or Trustees.
Standard Membership – (18 years or older)
This membership is a new introductory membership class open to new or returning HYC Members. Standard Members are entitled to all privileges of the Club without preference or priority to any other membership class and may not vote in Club affairs or serve as an Officer or Trustee.
Junior Membership (18-34 years)
Junior members are entitled to all privileges of the Club without preference or priority to any other membership class and may not vote in Club affairs or serve as an Officer or Trustee. Upon the member’s 35th birthday, the member converts to a Senior Membership or Standard Membership and pays a conversion fee.
Non-Resident Membership – (18 years or older)
This membership is for those who permanently reside or have a primary residence outside of Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery and Waller Counties. Non-Residents have no voting privileges, nor slip priority.
Limited Retiree Membership – (65 years or older)
A Limited Retiree Membership is open to new members applying for membership who are 65 years and older and have not been an HYC member in the past 5 years. There are no voting privileges and senior members have priority in the harbor. All other HYC events, services and facilities are available for use. Limited retiree cannot convert to retired status; however, they can convert to Senior Membership. Current HYC members cannot convert to this class.
