Sunfish - The Sunfish is one of the most iconic sailboats ever made. It’s not cutting edge but it’s still perhaps the easiest boat to rig for sailing. Two lines: One to raise the sail and one to control it. That’s it!

420 – The International 420 is popular for teaching and racing. It has a large sail area to weight ratio and is designed to plane easily. It may be sailed with a spinnaker and/or trapeze. It has built-in buoyancy so it will float even if overturned.

Flying Scot – The Flying Scot is often referred to as the “Best Day-sailer in the World” because of its big aft deck and roomy cockpit. It has buoyancy built in so it is a very safe boat. Easy to rig and sail, it can be managed by a couple.

J24 – Th J24 is the most popular one-design keelboat in the world. Whether used as a casual day sailer or in top-level competition, it is a joy to sail. HYC has an active class of J24s if you want to race.

J29 – The J29 is a performance cruiser that can be sailed offshore as well as in Galveston Bay. It is a very competitive racer but is also comfortable for a couple to cruise.
