Clubhouse

The Pink Palace

An historic landmark, our three-story clubhouse is a home away from home, complete with dining facilities, a friendly bar, meeting rooms, shower rooms and guest rooms for overnight stays. Built in 1927, the stucco structure has been described at various times as Spanish Mission, Spanish Colonial Revival and Spanish Mediterranean. Its traditional coral hue makes it a highly recognizable landmark on Galveston Bay.

With 27,000 square feet of space, the clubhouse can accommodate a wide variety of activities, from very casual to very formal. In the dining room, our members enjoy an eclectic menu and a dramatic view of Galveston Bay. The adjacent lounge and bar also offer spectacular views and plenty of room to visit with fellow members. The ballroom offers a stage, sound system and variable lighting. A multipurpose space, the ballroom is used for seminars, informal Club activities and regatta registration, but it really shines when the staff transforms it for dinner dances, formal balls and weddings.

For really laid-back activities, the Porthole, on the ground floor, is the place to be, with its modern bar and indoor and outdoor seating. When the weather is mild, the area around our Olympic-size pool is popular for evening parties. Near the baby pool, the Pavilion, a shaded open-air area, is a favorite summer gathering place for adults and children.

You'll find the Inlet, a hangout and chalk-talk center for HYC's youth activities program, on the ground floor. And, at the back of the building, just opposite the pool, are the bathhouses, with changing areas and showers.
